Workers’ Rights in ESL

The Washington State Labor Education and Research Center (LERC) provides resources for instructors of adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), to provide tools and resources for effectively integrating workers’ rights knowledge in ESOL classrooms.

The LERC has developed a unique curriculum, based around the Workplace Rights Module of the SBCTC’s BEdA Bridge Curriculum, that integrates the best practices of participatory, adult education, and the rights knowledge essential for Washington’s workers.

The LERC has provided train-the-trainer sessions and curriculum to Community College instructors (as well as some K12 and community-based instructors) across Washington.
