Most executive leaders of unions and organizations come from the membership and have not had access to traditional pathways of managerial and leadership training. New leaders in organizations often feel isolated and overwhelmed, and do not have ready access to mentors. The LERC is a hub for collaboration, sharing resources, coaching, and offering high quality programs for leaders aiming to boost their skills.

In 2026, the LERC began a partnership with Cornell University to teach Managing with Labor’s Values as a four-day course.

In the past, the LERC has supported executive leadership through programs including the Cascade Regional Labor Leaders Initiative (CRLLI), conducted in partnership with state labor federations and labor centers in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia.
